Abstract works on paper explore line, dimension & the geometries of contemporary life.

mixed media
Mixed-media works express frictions, contrasts, and relationships. These drawings, paintings, and collages express new modes of thinking, feeling, organizing, dreaming, deciding, solving, and re-solving at the start of the silicon revolution.Original artworks for sale through Etsy.

Lula Crowder 's work appears in numerous editions published by the Decatur Dixon Press. DDP is the first publishing house to double as a work of experimental art. Founded by a visual anthropologist + an art historian-curator, DDP seeks interdisciplinary content that re-thinks traditional book organization & structure. Crowder's bookworks include visual understories for classics like Zweig's Chess Game, Clay's Insect Intelligence, or Capek's RUR.Available in local bookshops and via Amazon. Signed copies of books made upon request.

artworks on archival paper
Lula Crowder is a bohemian of the highest order. Classically trained, she has offered curated shows as well as her own work in the salons of New York, San Francisco, Savannah, and elsewhere. Her book illustrations are best known for appearing in manilla envelopes tucked into library editions and borrowed collections as gifts to future readers. Inspired by artists like Wanda Gag, Ray Johnson, and Lebbeus Woods, her drawings, writing, and explorations of technology trace the gridlines of the contemporary, pushing materials to find new places to explore.
Inspo & Foundation
Inspired by writers, painters, philosophers, filmmakers and architects, Lula Crowder Studio is an artistic practice that supports my work as an anthropologist. I use language to analyze materiality, value, political economy, and semiotics, while my artwork uses line and color to feel through the world. I am currently working on a new edited collection on collage as both ontology and method.
All works are hand-drawn using fine materials on archival paper. For inquiries regarding exhibitions, availability, custom commissions, or Decatur Dixon Press publications, please reach out or visit the Etsy shop.

This weeks' practice involves transforming observations of the everyday onto the page.
